English 9 - Constructing an Interview Narrative
Uzi and Franck Tayou are Valley High School alumni who graduated in 2008. They came to Valley after immigrating to the United States from Cameroon, and they spoke very little English at first. Now, just six years after their high school graduation, Uzi and Franck are college graduates who earn their living as professional soccer players.
The Tayou brothers returned to Valley in October 2014 to speak our freshmen about overcoming obstacles, coming of age, and how success in high school and college paved the way for their careers as professional athletes. Our students used this opportunity to interview the brothers, and then created a narrative based on their interview notes for their English class.
